Gagavi. This tank was given on the fourteenth day when the moon was full in the middle of Vap in the second year since the royal canopy was raised by King Mekavaṇa Abaya, son of the great king Siri Naka (the Senior).

The word puņa has therefore to be equated with Skt. püraṇa " becoming full", the whole expression meaning the fortnight in which the moon is in the process of becoming full.
